Steven B. Herzberg, Esq.

 

Mr. Herzberg’s practice focuses on the representation of clients in transactions and litigation regarding real estate, commercial law, and aviation matters. Since he joined the firm in January 2016, he has successfully represented clients in disputes in state court, the Florida District Court of Appeals, and Federal District Court of the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Herzberg represents clients in various domestic and international real estate, corporate, and aviation transactions, as well as counseling clients in real estate development matters. Additionally, Mr. Herzberg represents clients in immigration matters, including business visas, non-immigrant, and immigrant visas and other applications filed with USCIS.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Herzberg was corporate counsel for a foreign owned and operated real estate investment fund in South Florida. At the investment fund he headed the fund’s legal department in areas regarding bulk purchases, real estate development, institutional investments, and commercial litigation. While in law school Mr. Herzberg spent time clerking for the United States Department of Homeland Security, and one of Miami’s most prominent real estate developers, Dezer Development.

Born and raised in Miami, he obtained his dual bachelors degree in Geography and International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. He went on to attend and graduate cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. At Miami Law he received the deans certificate for the highest grade in the class in Aviation Law and Landlord Tenant Law, as well as being an Academic Dean’s Fellow for two semesters for Professor Stephen Diamond. He is also a Leaders Fellow for the James Madison Institute for the class of 2015 and 2016.

Selected Transactional Representation:

Represented international and domestic corporations with the purchase and sale of corporate aircraft and aircraft operating certificates.

Represented local boat operator in obtaining city approval for the long-term lease of city owned waterfront property through an open Request for Proposal.

Represented developers of retail, hotel and residential developments regarding the sale and purchase of land and developments involving a myriad of issues, such as transfer of development rights, financing, government approvals, due diligence, and various litigation.

Represented a U.S. Company in obtaining U.S. Department Of State and U.S. Department of Commerce approval for the sale and export of an International Trafficking in Arms Regulated item to be sold to a foreign government.

 

Selected Dispute Representation:

Represented a Florida corporation in the Third District Court of Appeals on a contract dispute against a Spanish Corporation.

Represented foreign real estate investors in the collection and settlement of disputed condominium fees and cost in excess of one million dollars.

Represented a U.S. corporation in a contract dispute with a large European manufacturer on breach of contract claim regarding export regulations and approvals.
